HOSPITALIY is a profession and those involved in it must have skills and knowledge to go in line with their service, Hohola Community College principal Susuve Sevesoa said.
Sevesoa was speaking on the final day of a three-day in-house training programme conducted at the
South Pacific Motors Sports Club, better known as the Car Club, last Friday in Port Moresby.
Thirty floor staff from the club underwent a tourism and hospitality workshop on customer care, team work and food and beverage to improve the quality of service offered there.
Sevesoa told participants there was a need for training in the hospitality profession so that workers’ skills and knowledge could be in line with their service.
He said customer care, teamwork, food and beverage and character development should match the type of person involved in the profession.
He thanked the club management for organising in-house training for its staff.
South Pacific Motors Sports Club manager Shirley Iewa thanked Sevesoa and his team for the training and urged her staff to make a change to their customer service from what they learnt during the three days.
