FOREIGN Affairs and Immigration Minister Ano Pala last week announced an extension of the moratorium for foreigners without proper permits or visas by another 30 days.
The moratorium ended last Tuesday but has been extended to May 25.
Pala said the extension followed dialogue with diplomatic missions in Port Moresby.
Acting chief immigration officer Mataio Rabura said Pala accepted that many foreigners who were working in rural areas and logging camps might not have heard about the moratorium.
Pala said foreigners who overstayed their visas would not be prosecuted, fined or penalised during the period.
