41 kickboxing instructors for Hela
KICKBOXING in Hela has reached a milestone with 41 kickboxers, including four women, from the province receiving instructor certificates today.
A graduation ceremony is underway at Hedemari Primary School in Koroba and will continue tomorrow.
Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation president Stanley Nandex said Hela was the first province to undergo such programme in the country.
“Trainers will be posted to various clubs and kickboxing schools throughout the three districts in Hela,” he said.
“Four female instructors will be graduating with their level one and level two certificates.
“Most of the fighters have completed their four-month certificate one training in Hela and level two certificate training in Goroka.
“The 41 instructors will be posted to 37 clubs in the three districts of Hela.”
Hela Governor Philip Undialu said the partnership would pave the way to help youths take leadership roles in their communities.
He said he backed sports to have a positive impact in the communities by promoting social development.
