42-year-old man charged with rape

A 42-YEAR-OLD man charged with raping a seven-year-old girl was remanded by the Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, yesterday.
Michael Randa of Buiyebi in Imbonggu, Southern Highlands was charged with the sexual penetration of a child at the 2nd Block, 8-Mile, National Capital District.
It was alleged that between March 1 and Aug 19, Randa committed the offence several times.
Randa’s wife found out when she noticed that the victim was struggling to walk and in discomfort.
She asked her and when she did not get a response so she checked the girl’s genitals and found that it was infected.
She reported the matter to police.
Bidar adjourned the case to Jan 17 for mention.
