45 honoured for outstanding service

Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae,hosted the Order of PNG 2017 Independence Anniversary Investiture ceremony yesterday in which 45 individuals were recognised for their services to the country.
Among them were Justice George Manuhu and Ellenas Batari who were awarded the Companion of the Order of the Star of Melanesia (CSM) for services to the law and justice and the community in the role of a judge in the National and Supreme Courts.
Other recipients included the James Byron Chan who made Officer of the Order of Logohu (OL) for services to the New Ireland community and the nation as an MP and minister for mining.
Recipients of the Member of the Order of Logohu included Panditha Bandara for services to tertiary education and university, Willie Emmanuel for services to education, particularly in language and literacy, and Gei Guni Raga for public services to Central’s administration.
In military, Lt Col Boniface Aruma was invested the Distinguished Military Services Medal (DMS) for services to PNG Defence Force.
Royal PNG Constabulary Chief Superintendent Dominic Kakas was awarded the Distinguished Police Services Medal (DPS) for services to police.
Recipient for the long service this year included Father Niezgoda Kasimir, who was made
Officer of the Order of Logahu (OL) for services to the Catholic Church as a missionary priest for over 50 years among the Enga
and Western Highlands communities.
Outstanding awards included Damien Bernard Kereku, who was made the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu with the title of Chief (GCL) for services to the community through his distinguished leadership roles for 60 years in socio-political development to the Tolai people and his service in the national parliament as a regional MP for East New Britain.
Seline Leo-Lohia was made Member of the Order of Logohu (ML) for public service in trade and diplomatic relations.
Ian Onaga was made Officer of the Order of Logohu (OL) for public services through his leadership in agricultural science and technology.
