50 UPNG students from Daulo get K100,0000

Education

FIFTY University of Papua New Guinea students from Eastern Highland’s Daulo district Eastern have received K100,000 to help with their tuition fees.
Daulo MP Pogio Ghate made the presentation last week.
Students’ representative Seniyo Moruwo, a final-year student, said during registration that they were told to make full payments before they can be enrolled for classes or accommodation.
He said that the tuition-fee assistance was a relief for them and their parents.
“This assistance from our MP will help us achieve our dreams and goals to become good leaders in our district in the future,” Moruwo said.
Ghate said that Daulo students at other universities and colleges in the country would also be assisted with tuition fees this year.
He urged Daulo students to focus on their education and fully commit themselves to complete their studies.
Ghate said the tuition-fee assistance was not a full payment.
He said parents had a role to play and should invest in their children’s education before asking their leader for help.
“Education is one of my priority areas to focus on, as it is an integral part of development work in my district,” Ghate said.
“I look forwards to investing more in building the human resources of the district by subsidising school fees .”
