EDA Ranu’s relationship with Members of Parliament in delivering water supply to Port Moresby residents is very good, according to its chief executive officer.

Henry Mokono said National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop and the three open MP’s are cooperating with Eda Ranu to bring water to almost every part of their respective electorates.

Mokono and staff, who accompanied Moresby North-East MP Labi Amaiu to 6-Mile Bodiam settlement yesterday to open new water taps, thanked Amaiu for his close partnership with Eda Ranu.

“Amaiu is doing a lot for his electorate and we want to partner with him and the other members to do more for our people in the city by delivering water projects,” he said.

Mokono issued a stern warning to water users, especially people in settlements and suburbs: “Do not take water for granted but be responsible citizens and look after the service that is provided and meet the requirements that come with the water.

“There’s a subsidised cost for water and you must form a water committee and pay K20 or K30 through your committees to continue to use water in to the future,” he said.

He said water is an important resource that comes with other human needs, and as a company that cares for its people in the city, they are undertaking other community development projects to create a better lifestyle for people.

The people of Bodiam were given a grace period of two months to use water and after that they will pay bills.

He told water users that the bills they pay are used to manage water properly in the long term.
