POLICE have arrested another six men believed to have been involved in the killing of Snr Insp Charles Parinjo on Saturday night.
By yesterday morning, police had 15 suspects in custody.
In addition, three eyewitnesses voluntarily turned up to give their account of what transpired on that night.
Provincial police commander Snr Insp Vincent Pokas said investigators were collecting statements from eyewitnesses.
The suspects were being kept in an undisclosed area for safety reasons.
The first suspect was apprehended immediately after the incident on Saturday night.
Eight others were picked up on Monday morning.
It was revealed in a meeting at Kaindi on Monday afternoon that at least 20 people were wanted by police for questioning.
Pokas said charges were expected to be laid this week after the interviews.
Business in the provincial capital got off to a slow start yesterday after a stand-off on Monday.
All shops, banks and the main market in town were open but the atmosphere was generally quiet until the afternoon yesterday.
Pokas appealed for co-operation from relatives of Parinjo  and the perpetrators to make police work easier.
The body of the officer was airlifted to a funeral home in Port Moresby on Monday to await funeral arrangements.
