87 new cases reported

PAPUA New Guinea registered 87 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday, boosting the total cases to 1,670 to date.
Office of the Controller’s spokesman Chief Supt Dominic Kakas said the latest cases were reported in four provinces: West Sepik (12); Morobe (20); Eastern Highlands (nine); and, 46 in the National Capital District (NCD).
NCD continues to lead in the growing number of cases with a total 704 cases to date.
NCD’s latest cases were 21 men and 25 women aged between seven and 68.
Twenty-nine cases showed symptoms of the Covid-19 while 17 were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
In West Sepik, one man and 11 women tested positive for the Covid-19 with 11 cases showing symptoms and one was asymptomatic at the time of testing.
Nine of them came into contact with previous known cases.
Morobe had eight men and 12 women aged between 20 and 57 down with Covid-19.
Seventeen of them had come into contact with previous known cases. The Eastern Highlands reported five men and four women aged between 29 and 65 tested positive with seven cases showing symptoms of Covid-19 at the time of testing.
PNG’s Covid-19 cases today stands at 1,670 with 16 deaths.
Seventeen provinces, including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, have reported cases.

  • Is is what is is and we need to follow procedures by taking the safety measures to be safe. It is paramount that we all take necessary precaution. Let’s not be negligent. Testing is expensive and to avoid high costs in medical bills, I know I have to follow the safety protocols of wearing a mask, washing my hands frequently, practise social distancing and sanitizing to be safe.

    I would rather be safe then contract it and spread it to my family.
