A father’s responsibility

Letters

THE article in The National on Friday (March 16) regarding a 20-year sentence to a father who raped his daughter took me to tears.
My heart cried as I tried to comprehend the issue, especially regarding the lack of, or the absence of a father’s responsibility to daughters, grand-daughters and mothers.
While the courts have rightfully exercised their instituted responsibilities, I do not consider myself as perfect or sinless to offer any comments or judgement to the jailed father.
The sentencing should, however, provoke us as fathers of our nation to rise up and take hold of our divinely assigned responsibilities to our daughters and mothers.
Let us embrace them, think good of them, respect them, build them up, give them fatherly leadership, and strive to be a role model to them.
These will help develop stronger families, stronger societies, and eventually a stronger PNG.
God loves PNG families.
