Anyone who hits a hole-in-one on the 18th hole during the Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club next month wins a new Toyota Hilux.
That announcement was made by the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee — the hosts of the Sept 21 challenge — after confirming Ela Motors Toyota as a support sponsor.
The National is the major sponsor of the challenge.
Committee president Sir John Dawanincura thanked Ela Motors for giving golfers the chance to win a single cab worth between K80,000 and K100,000.
The top-four finnishers of the event will win prizes from Air Niugini, Coral Sea Hotels, Theodist and Coca-Cola.
The prizes include Air Niugini return tickets to Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns, and free accommodation courtesy of Coral Sea Hotels.
Sir John commended The National for running free advertisements and thanked the prime minister for his patronage of the event.
The challenge is the committee’s second major fundraiser, which raises money to send Team PNG to international events such as the Pacific, Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
Sir John appealed to organisations to support the worthy cause.
He thanked those who competed in last year and invited them to join this year’s challenge, a four-member teams competing in a modified Ambrose event.
Last year’s winners were MRDC, with Southern Cross and the Tupira Surf Club finishing second and third respectively.
“Samoa 2019 is an important Pacific Games for Team PNG and we rely heavily on the support of our partners, stakeholders and friends to help us defend our pride from 2015,” Sir John said.
“PNG has never topped the medal tally at an away Games and we aim to make Samoa the first of many.”
Registration fee for this year’s event is K3000 per team.
Organisations and or individuals are invited to support the cause.
The committee said it can be contacted on 3231411, 3251449, 3230114, 71001063 or via email on [email protected] for further information.
