A waste of taxpayers’ money

WHY is the government pumping millions of kina into sports?
What are we getting in return?
Will the whole nation benefit or only a select few?
While the government is committing millions of taxpayers’ money and the money from our natural resources into sports, the majority suffer from a lack of basic medical services, run-down infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water supplies, schools and rampant law and order problems.
The cost of saving 100 mothers dying from childbirth is equivalent to sending one athlete overseas to train.
The government must focus on what is of utmost importance to the nation in descending priorities.
Put education first, followed by health, law and order, etc.
Who is going to bring PNG to match the standard of the developed world?
It is the human resource who graduates out of our universities and colleges.
The government must also look into the standard of our tertiary institutions as it is degrading every year.
It is time for our leaders to think what they want to do and set their priorities.
