THE Department of Works and its staff and senior managers have been praised for continuing road upgrade work on the Wabag-Wapenamanda stretch in Enga.
Wabag MP Sam Abal said the road had been left to disintegrate for many years until early last year.
“As minister for Works, I made K16 million available for upgrading work,” he said.
“This upgrade will include, as a trial, an Israeli stabiliser said to be of superior quality.”
He said the people of Enga would be happy to know that the project was continuing.
“I want to thank the government and Works Minister Francis Awesa for supporting the project.
“The Israeli stabiliser is a cost-saving and quality product that can be used on all roads in PNG,” Abal said.
“That is an important road to support the economic lifeline of the Porgera mine and whoever is in government must continue to fund it.”
