Accounting scholarship for youngster

GRADE 10 student Mathew Muingnepe from Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School in Lae, Morobe province, became the ninth recipient of the International Training Institute scholarship.
The 19-year-old lad from Boana, Nawaeb, received his scholarship award from ITI marketing manager Danny Smith during Bumayong’s grades 10 and 12 graduation recently.
The scholarship is worth K2,000 and would enable Mathew to study a six-month certificate course at the institute next year.
A jubilant Mathew said the award was a blessing that came when he least expected it.
He has plans to take up accounting at the institute.
A total of nine schools have already received a scholarship for their selected student.
Mr Smith said the scholarship award was provided to a selected student from all high schools in the province.
“It is a form of incentive to assist and provide an opportunity for school leavers to further their education,” he said.
