Accused of discharging firearm

A MAN who rang police to report a violent mob has turned out to be the man involved in discharging a firearm at two men, police say.
The National Capital District/Central divisional police command, in a statement, said no one was hurt in the incident.
Police said the suspect used a mobile phone to contact the police operations centre and was picked up by the police fox unit 202 along the Taurama Road near Vadavada last Saturday night.
Police said they went after the mob but the mob told them that the suspect, from Central and Northern, had allegedly used a pistol to shoot at two men.
“The policemen interviewed the suspect and found a homemade gun hidden inside an old refrigerator in his yard,” police said.
“The police also found a bullet in the gun chamber.
“Infuriated by this gun attack, relatives of the would-be victims mobilised and were going to retaliate when the prime suspect contacted the police.
“The suspect was detained in the Boroko cells.”
