Act now to stop crime in NCD before it is too late

I SYMPATHISE with the victim who was stabbed at Gordon’s Market and praise her for taking the bold step to bring her ordeal to the media for everyone to know what the market is like.

This may be one of the many unreported  examples that occur daily there and I cannot comprehend how such incidents happen daily when  there  is  a police station right next to the market.

It  reflects  the inefficiency of the Gordon police commander and his officers who are assigned to look after law and order in the   suburb, including the market area.

If only the good officers are willing to walk and patrol the crime hotspot regularly, rather than driving around in cars.

Gordon’s Market is now fast becoming   the worst crime spot in the nation’s capital with so many illicit activities happening in broad daylight.

Selling and consuming alcohol, playing dart games, selling and   smoking drugs, selling frozen  meat  in  the  car park area as well as gambling are just a few of the daily occurrences here.

All these activities are done by people from a  certain region, who are aggressive when one gets in their territory.

After reading many similar articles, I predict and conclude that if the vagrancy act is not enforced now to stop the mass  urban  drift, the population of NCD  will triple in five years.

Then, the government will find it  very  difficult  to  establish  a  solution  to  problems that are yet to come and  which will be far worse than  that what  is  happening now.

So please Governor Powes Parkop, take  this  as  a  warning  and wake-up call and try to do something serious to save our capital city before it is too late.
