ADB to fund three health facilities for Jimi worth K30mil

PEOPLE of Jiwaka’s Jimi district celebrated the launching of a K30 million health project at Karap station on Monday.
The three level health centre will be funded by the Asian Development Bank under the Health Services Sector Development Project (HSSDP).
HSSDP PNG projects environment safeguard specialist Jim Dopo said the project tender would be published in a few weeks for contractors to bid.
“This will be an 18-bed health facility and will comprise an operating theatre, a tuberculosis (TB) ward, eye clinic, and a labour ward,” he said.
Dopo said while there would not be a morgue there would be a cold storage unit to store bodies.
“The health centre will be powered by a backup generator, solar power, and water supply.
“Construction of the health centre will be followed by the construction of 18 houses for health workers. This is more like a district hospital.”
