Address failing health system

Letters

I APPEAL to Prime Minister James Marape, Health Minister Jelta Wong, the Health Department and Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu to address the failing delivery of health services in Eastern Highlands.
People are dying silently every day.
Nurses and doctors could not perform their duties because they are continuously disturbed with threats and intimidations from the management.
There is no cooperation between the governor’s office and provincial health authority.
That resulted in the governor being left in the dark.
He does not know whether there is an improvement in health indicators in his province.
The position of the health authority’s chief executive officer (CEO) will be vacant as of Feb 13 when the current chief executive’s four-year term expires.
The Health Department should be thinking of advertising the position and find a new CEO before that date. We, the people of Eastern Highlands want a new health authority board and a new CEO.
We need better health services.
