Address rise in PMV fares

Letters

PMV buses in Lae have increased fares from K1 to K2 and K3 fare to K5.
We understand that this is due to Covid-19 and Police have advised the transport operators to accept 15 passengers in a 25-seater bus.
But the transport department and traffic haven’t advised of any increase in bus fares.
Workers’ hours are cut and the villagers going to sell their garden products are affected with the increase in bus fare.
Buses are operating daily and they are making money every minute/ hour and etc.
Workers are waiting for their fortnight and spending more on bus fare and groceries in two weeks.
If the Government is strict on store goods prices not to be increased, then why not strict on buses not to increase the fares?
Everyone is affected so be fair.
We need transport and traffic authorities in Lae to do something about the increase in bus fares.
