Address students’ foul behaviour

WHEN I visited the University of PNG (UPNG) campus last weekend to pick my child for mid-semester break, I was shocked to see a group of male students from a certain region inside campus completely drunk and displaying very unacceptable behaviours. I could see one of them swearing at vehicles driving in and out of the campus.Walking past the male dormitories next to the campus clinic felt like a “no-go” high-risk security zone at that moment as there were drunk students everywhere carrying homebrew in plastic bottles as if it was in a lawless settlement.After reading stories of harassment of female UPNG students by some concerned writers to this newspaper, I was prompted to write this so that the management of UPNG can take appropriate actions to address student harassment, drinking and other unacceptable conduct.
