Address teachers’ salary issues

Letters

THERE are many teachers facing pay problems with the Education Department’s payroll section in Waigani.
At this unstable times with the threat of the coronavirus pandemic, teachers need money to care for their immediate and extended families.
The Education secretary should check the data entry office at the salary section to see if officers are doing what they are supposed to be doing.
Teachers are just like any other public servants who need money.
Many applications end up prolonged for a month to be actioned and that is unacceptable.
Can someone do something to rectify this bizarre situation happening at the Education Department salary section?

Confused,
PNG

  • Melisa an officer who is responsible for teachers PVAs does not care about teachers welfare. She refuses to sign the papers because, she claims the PVAs are supposed to be brought in batches by the TS&LS. We are told by TS&LS, it is not their responsibility for the PVA. We are stuck with Melisa.
