THE East New Britain provincial administration should continue providing advice to the provincial government (leaders).
Deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion issued the challenge to the provincial administration in Kokopo this week.
He said it was important as the efficiency and effectiveness of the provincial administration could see better policy decision made at the provincial level to maintain the integrity and level of development in the province.
Dion said with the huge amount of public money included in the provincial budget, it was important for it to be utilised appropriately to serve its purpose, therefore providing executive advice was vital.
The regional MP and former governor said he was impressed with the provincial administration working closely with the private sector and other government agencies in the province, adding this was the way forward to deliver services to the people.
“ENB is doing fine, we should promote that by going a little bit further in achieving more for our province and our people by advising each other,” he said.
Dion added that many provinces had seen huge funding allocations in their provincial budgets this year, but, they had to be prepared to utilising and implement the budget to serve its purpose.
“The question is are we ready? Are the provincial mechanisms ready to take on and absorb it?
“Do we have the capacity and if we don’t, then what are we going to do about it?” he asked.
Dion urged other provincial administrations to work closely and effectively with government agencies and the private sector to provide services to the people.
