CHIMBU provincial administrator Joe Kunda is denying media reports that K267,564 for road projects in Gumine district have gone missing.
Kunda said the money had been used for other development projects in Gumine district but that must be justified.
He directed Gumine district treasurer Siwi Takai and district administrator Daing Kil to account for the money spent in the district.
“They have to justify the spending of the district funds.
“That is all they have to do.
“I am focused at seeing services delivered to the people,” Kunda said.
He said Gumine was the fastest developing district and had contributed towards Chimbu being rated the top province in the country in service delivery.
Kil said district funds were spent in line with resolutions of the joint district planning and budget priority committee and not in isolation.
He said if there was anything wrong, the provincial administration should first be consulted for internal investigations before going to the media and police.
“I was never given opportunity by provincial treasurer Martha Anton to explain the use of the money as required under administrative process.
“We form the view that the report was politically motivated,” Kil said.
Chimbu provincial police commander Augustine Wampe confirmed receiving an official complaint of the alleged misuse from Anton.
