CHILDREN need to have an idea of what the fire service does and one group who was fortunate enough to witness this was Popondetta’s Adventurer Club.
Children from the Adventurer Club of the Popondetta Seventh-day-Adventist Church visited the Fire Service Department in Popondetta on Sunday.
Team leader Philipa Haunembo said 33 adventurers from ages 4 to 9 received basic knowledge on fires, the work of a fire fighter and what to do be safe and prevent fires.
Adventurer leader Felicity James said the children learned more from observation hence the visit to the fire station. Fire Inspector Sebastin Asubun said they took the opportunity to disseminate fire information to all members of the community.
“Children of the Adventurer Club are one of the age group we target,” he said.
“We have prepared lessons according to age groups to get the message through.
“It is to reduce the risk of life and property,” he said.
The adventurers also visited University of Natural Resources and Environment farm for their nature study to fulfil their outdoor requirement.
