HUMAN rights advocacy in Papua New Guinea has gained momentum over the years with ongoing promotions to educate people on the importance of defending human rights, organisers of the Human Rights Film Festival say.
Part of the campaign is the Human Rights Film Festival that is held every year.
Organisers said, the annual event was officially opened in Port Moresby yesterday by UN resident coordinator David McLachlan-Karr, European Union head of delegation Martin Dihm, Oxfam country director, Louise Ewington and a representative from the PNG government.
The opening will be followed by series of film viewing, open forum and debates from today until Sunday.
The festival team will later travel to Goroka (Oct 28-29) and Bougainville (Nov 1-3).
