AFL finalists given week off to prepare

ORGANISERS of the Port Moresby AFL Premiership have given a week’s break for the finalists to prepare themselves.
Senior community football manager Rex Leka confirmed that the quarterfinals (Aug 11), semifinals (Aug 18) and the grand final (Aug 25) would be held at the Colts Oval.
He said the POM AFL executives and club representatives met on Tuesday and confirmed a week’s break for the clubs to prepare themselves for the finals.
Leka said out of the eight teams in all divisions, the top four teams would compete in the finals.
“In the senior division, Bismarck Maritime West Eagles, Lamana Dockers, Concept Koboni and Gordons Kokofas have advanced to the finals,”
“In the reserve division, Dockers, West Eagles, Kokofas and the Bomana Cats advance to the finals.
“The Dockers stood out throughout the competition, with their three teams advancing to the finals.
“The Dockers women’s team led their division, with Kokofas finishing second followed by Koboni and North Waigani Royals Tigers.”
