AFL Papua New Guinea hopes to get at least 10,000 school-aged children, in Port Moresby, playing Aussie Rules.
Twelve schools will be visited by the AFL PNG’s development officers Cornelius Papau this term and another 30 schools will have undergone the Niukick programme by December.
Niukick is a junior development programme, derived from the AFL Auskick Rules, which was aims to develop and promote high AFL participation among children.
The programme targets children between the ages of five and 15, in primary schools and local communities and is modified to suite these age groups.
AFL PNG aims to reach more than 50,000 children with the programme this year.
Following on from these schools clinics, AFL PNG will run a schools competition lasting 18 weeks, commencing April 12.
