AFL PNG have successfully completed the 2012 Coca-­Cola national championships in Lae and Kimbe and have named train-on squad for the U16 and U14 Binatangs’ Australian tour next year.
The championships were held on Nov 9-11 at Igam Barracks in Lae where Southern, Highlands and Northern regions took part.
The U16 Binatangs will tour Australia from April 5-15 next year.
They will participate in the Australian indigenous championships in Townsville and will play matches against New Zealand and Oceania teams competing for the South Pacific Cup.
AFL Oceania will consist of players from across the South Pacific (Nauru, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, and the Solomon Islands).
The championships will be a preparation for the Australian U16 championships held in Sydney in July 2013.
Meanwhile, the U14 Binatangs will tour Australia from June 22-29.
The team will participate in the Queensland championships held in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
They will play matches against development regions from around Queensland.

The two Binatang squads will form the basis of teams of 25 to be finalised in late February (U16s) and late April (U14s).
Selection will be based on attendance at regional training sessions, provision of relevant information to the AFL PNG office and prompt payment of levies.
