AFLPNG to conduct regional development carnivals for juniors

AUSTRALIAN Football League  PNG (AFLPNG) will conduct its regional development carnival starting this weekend in Port Moresby.
According to a statement from AFLPNG administration officer Freda Keene, the Southern region will hold their carnival at Colts Oval.  The age groups taking part in the carnivals are the Under-15 and U13 boys and girls.
The selections made from these carnivals will be for next year’s national junior teams tours which include the U16 South Pacific squad, U14 Binatangs and U17 Kurakums.
AFL PNG will be introducing the U14 Kurakums into the Queensland State championships.
There will be four teams taking part in the Queensland State Championships according to their divisions.
The junior development carnivals starting this month are scheduled as follows (games will run from 9am to 3pm):

  • July 2, 3 – Southern development carnival – Colts Oval, Port Moresby.
  • July 8, 9 –  Northern development carnival – Eriku Oval, Lae
  • July 12 – Islands development carnival – Town Oval,  Kavieng
  • July 14 – Islands development carnival – Kimbe AFL Oval
  • Highlands development carnival – date and venue to be confirmed.
