Agiru: Develop audit, compliance

 HELA Governor Anderson Agiru says the Government should allocate a sizeable portion of the 2014 development grants to audit and compliance  in the public sector.

He said this function was lacking throughout the entire public accounting system, especially in the districts where the Government was pouring a large portion of the budget.

“The quantum shift to the local level governments, the districts and the provinces is of course the right direction to take,” Agiru said.

“That is where the bulk of the population is. That is where the need for goods and services is greatest and of course that is where delivery has fallen far short of in the past.”
