KOROBA Lake Kopiago MP Philip Undialu says the late Anderson Agiru died as a ‘struggling governor’ for Hela.
Undialu said Agiru had a number of dreams for the people of Hela and Southern Highlands.
Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, Undialu thanked the Government and everyone who had paid tribute to the late governor of Hela.
“I thank the Prime Minister and all state ministers, state agencies and the Opposition and everyone that took part in contributing in the past 26 days of mourning for our leader,” he said.
“I thank the Government for his commitment to fund the Gulf-Southern Highlands Highway which will be named after Governor Anderson Agiru. I also thank the the Government for approving some of the big projects like sealing of the road from Mendi to Tari, from Tari to Lake Kopiago and then to Komo.
“One other dream he (Agiru) had was giving the title back to the landowners, which was the 4.27 per cent equity,” Undialu said.
“I think the submission is before the NEC today. Mr Treasurer (Patrick Pruaitch) is aware of this submission and I would like to call on the Cabinet members to facilitate that and allow the landowners to be given what rightfully belongs to them.
“Maybe at a discounted price because the fact is that the oil price had been downgraded and price at the time was high.”
