ONLY five out of 21 PNGRFL leagues have met the affiliation requirements forcing the deferral of the much-awaited annual general meeting to March 18.
PNGRFL officers Ivan Ravu and Joe Tokam will now prepare the four regions for the deferred AGM.
Ravu will take charge of the leagues in Southern and New Guinea Islands region while Tokam takes care of Northern and Highlands.
“The AGM, due to Thursday’s military unrest in Port Moresby, affected the flights out of NGI as well as Port Moresby and other parts of the country and this resulted in NGI’s non-attendance at the meeting in Lae,” Tokam said.
As a result there was no quorum as there has to be at least a 50% turnout of fully registered members to have an AGM.
“We have given the leagues 21 days to sort out their affairs,” Tokam said.
“Port Moresby, Lae, Wabag, Tabubil and Banz gave their papers on time while two, Minj and Hagen came late to submit their papers,” Tokam said.
“For the NGI, they weren’t able not travel to Lae due to flight problem but they too did not meet the AGM requirements as well however their spokesman David Karol sent his apologies.”
