Agriculture to save Gazelle’s economy

AGRICULTURE can rescue Gazelle’s economy, says MP Jelta Wong, pictured.
Four plantations were acquired by the district for economic developments last Thursday.
Wong paid K360,000 to Steven Nightingale of New Guinea Ireland Produce Company (NGIP Agmark) as an upfront payment of the plantations.
The plantations are Notramol One and Two, and Langinoa One and Two.
They are located in the Lassul Baining local level government in East New Britain.
Wong took the initiative because he saw that investment in agriculture could change his district economically.
“There is a need to work all idle land for agriculture production as it has the ability to rescue the district’s economy,” he said.
“This is a far better investment than investment in the extractive resources sector.”
This is in line with the Wong’s plan to push for more agriculture business and creating a platform for foreign investment to come and partner with the Gazelle business arm to empower the district and its people with opportunities.
