THE Sumia aid post in the Lower Mendi local level government of Imbonggu district, Southern Highlands, received K5,000 for renovations from its MP last month.

Works and Implementation Minister and Imbonggu MP Francis Awesa presented the money to repair and upgrade the deteriorating building that had not seen any maintenance work for many years.

Aid post orderly Samuel Timba said the money had helped improve the aid post’s facilities.

Timba said the aid post served seven council wards in the Lower Mendi LLG and renovation was underway.

“Patients from Tepe-Eskembe, Yore one and two, Sumia one, two and three and other council wards at Meki village that border Imbonggu and Nipa-Kutubu districts come to the aid post,” he said.

Timba said the aid post had played a crucial role in helping poor villagers who could not make it to Mendi General Hospital and such help by the MP was of paramount importance and had brought joy in the seven council wards.
