AIR Niugini’s new range of cabin crew uniforms that were launched last September have been officially last weekend.

The uniforms were finally worn on the first trip from Port Moresby to Narita, Japan, that was scheduled on Jan 1, as well as on incoming flights from other international destinations.

Air Niugini chief executive officer Wasantha Kumarasiri said during the launching of the uniforms last September that it had been close to 20 years since Air Niugini last changed uniforms for its staff.

He added that this change was timely as it coincided with the growth and development currently taking place with the organisation.

“The range of uniforms have developed over the course of many months in collaboration with Air Niugini’s board of directors and a number of groups including the cabin crew themselves.

“The vision and the aim of the new range of corporate clothing for Air Niugini is to utilise many aspects from the rich and vibrant heritage, culture and lifestyle depicted in varying degrees and designs on the attire,” he said.

“The colours used in the uniforms reflect the vibrant personality of PNG people and the wonderful country itself,” said Kumarasiri.
