Air Niugini flies into top spot in city netball comp

AIR Niugini (PX) 1 will go into the festive break smiling after stealing the lead from Bank South Pacific 1 on the private companies netball premier division points ladder.
PX snatched a 20-19 win against BSP 1 last Sunday.
The win pushed Air Niugini from fourth place on four points to fly past Veupunama, National Plumbing Services 1 (NPS) and BSP 1 and land comfortable in the first place with seven points.
The bankers (7) move into second place with a lower point differential compared to PX.
In other results Australian High Commission 1 (AHC) defeated Fairdeal 23-14 and Brian Bell edged Datec 28-26.
The game between NPS 1 and Veupunama which NPS 1 won 24-23 is on query with both teams still on six points each with NPS 1 in third and Veupunama in fourth.
The points ladder after game three of round one has Air Niugini leading followed by BSP 1, NPS 1, Veupunama making up the top four.
AHC 1 (5th), Brian Bell (6th) and Fairdeal (7th)   are all on five points each but points differential separates the three teams.         
Datec is yet to register a win and is in last place with three points.
Private companies netball competition president Margaret Embahe said the competition would go into a two-week recess during the festive period.
“The competition will resume after the New Year and the executive is yet to decide on the date but from previous experience, we may be looking at mid-January when the entire festive holiday mood has completely settled,” Embahe said.
Public Servants Netball competition coordinator Henao Gurias also said their competition would also go into recess and return on Jan 14.
