Air Niugini recognises Madang port for ‘being on time’

AIR Niugini has given its Madang office the best “on-time performance” award in Category A of ports for the third quarter of the year.
The award is measured on the time taken for a scheduled flight to depart from a point of origin to the point of arrival.
Air Niugini managing director Alan Milne congratulated Madang port manager Henrick Senat and his team for an excellent job.
“We must ensure to meet customers’ expectations and deliver on time, every time, even if it means to exceed International Air Transport Association’s accepted bench mark of 85 per cent. But at the same time, we must not compromise safety.”
Air Niugini’s 23 domestic ports are divided into four categories according to the number of flights in a day.
Madang, Lae, Rabaul and Mt Hagen are classed Category A for handling up to four flights a day.
Goroka, Wewak, Manus and Hoskins are in Category B.
Kavieng, Vanimo, Gurney, Buka and Kieta are Category C.
All Link PNG ports serviced by the Dash-8 aircraft including Wapenamanda are all in Category D.
