Airline needs support: Milne

AIR Niugini managing director Alan Milne says Papua New Guineans’ concern and passion about the country’s flag carrier keeps the airline responsible.
“To me, that is a good thing because that shows that people have got a passion for the brand and for the airline,” he said. “It is the flag carrier.
“It is the national carrier.
“That is an added responsibility to us, and to our team, to make sure that we deliver that service that is required.
“When something goes wrong, and when there is an issue and we are treated harshly by the public, that is also good, I guess, because once again it shows the passion.
“Conversely people need to understand that it is PNG’s airline and we need Papua New Guineans’ support.
“It is all well and good to hold Air Niugini up on this pedestal, but then go and buy their tickets on Qantas.
“That is not going to do any good to the airline and what we are trying to do is make Air Niugini that really great airline.”
