Airline’s name change endorsed

SHAREHOLDERS of PNG Air have endorsed the changing of the airline’s name from Airlines PNG.
They voted in favour of the name change during the company’s annual general meeting yesterday.
“The company has traded under the business name PNG Air since the launching the first of its new ATR 72-600 aircraft in November 2015,” company chairman Murray Woo said. “However the name of the company has remained as Airlines of Papua New Guinea Limited.”
He said the reason for the change was because of the public favouring the PNG Air brand.
“Having a different company name causes some confusion and works against fully achieving the rebranding of the company as PNG Air.
“As the PNG Air name has already been used and most public reference to the old name has been replaced, it is not expected that there would be any significant expense arising from the change in the company’s name,” Woo said.
The PNG Companys Act requires that the company shareholders approve a change to the company name by a special resolution.
