Airport shut over row

 A DISPUTE between two security companies forced the closure of Mendi Airport this week, leaving passengers stranded.  Passengers from Moro (Kutubu) were affected as well.

Five of Oil Search Ltd employees working in Moro who were to travel to Mendi on Wednesday remained in Moro after the closure of the airport on Tuesday.

Aviation safety officer with Oil Search Dennis Allen said on Wednesday that “the safety of OSL staff was paramount for the company and it would not take the risk to transport them by road either”.
