Albert to add size against Cutters

Sports

STANTON Albert’s inclusion will add size off the bench when the SP Hunters take on the Mackay Cutters at the National Football Stadium at 3pm on Sunday.
Albert returns from injury alongside Charlie Simon on the bench, and coach Michael Marum will look at the duo to make an impact against the 10th-placed Cutters.
Captain Moses Meninga will need to dominate the middle alongside Enoch Maki, McKenzie Yei, Epel Kapinias and Baundo Aba if they are to win the match.
Ase Boas leads the competition in ineffective tackles and Marum will want nothing short of an improvement from last week’s showing when they lost to the Redcliffe Dolphins 48-8 in Brisbane.
Assistant coach Glen Nami said earlier that the Hunters had put the mauling behind them and were now looking to turn their season around in the middle of the season.
Nami’s recent appointment will ease the pressure on Marum who has been at the helm of the Hunters since their debut season in 2014.
Nami’s experience will be invaluable to the 12-placed Hunters following his success at the Digicel Cup level with defending champions Goroka Lahanis.
Terry Wapi’s form has seen Marum keep faith in the former Rabaul Gurias fullback. He remains at fullback with Junior Rau and Gairo Kapana both starting on the wing.
Former captain Boas partners Nick Hasu in the halves.
If the Hunters are to turn their season around, now would be a good time with the side playing at home over the next two weekends.
Marum’s men play the 4th-placed Tweed Head Seagulls at the NFS next week before travelling to Cairns to play the Northern Pride.
Fixtures: Round 13: Sat, June 8 – Wynnum Manly v Jets, Pride v Capras; Sun, June 9 – Bears v Tigers, Tweed Head v Falcons, Devils v Dolphins, Magpies v Blackhawks, Hunters v Cutters.
