Alcohol destroying Enga

ALCOHOL-related problems used to be an issue before it was banned five years ago. The “action governor” and his provincial administrators made the bold decision to ban alcohol. How is it that alcohol is widely distributed and consumed in Enga? This is the result of another decision by Governor Peter Ipatas to issue licence to certain people to sell alcohol in the province. As a result, alcohol is sold in most motels, guest-houses, clubs and “bush huts”. Engans want Ipatas to ban alcohol again. The call is genuine but I doubt there will be a total ban because with the election just around the corner, these “businessmen” will become the campaign managers. It is sad to see development and lives being jeopardised for self-gain. How and when will this end? Why is it that politician tend to think that they have the right to make and break laws? As such, I challenge Ipatas to put a total ban on alcohol if he wants to see a peaceful Enga.
