KING of Hearts, a charitable organisation founded by a group of young Papua New Guineans, is embarking on raising K300,000 for the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute.
It hopes to buy an “echo machine” for the heart institute located at the Port Moresby General Hospital.
“The formation of the organisation by my wife and I, with the assistance of the other members is to basically raise funds to help the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute buy much needed equipment,” Raymond Romalus said.
He said PNGFM Ltd, under its charity drive 2012 programme, was helping them.
The first charity event is on Saturday, July 28, with “A barefoot bowls fun day” at the Defence Bowling Club at Murray Barracks, followed by a launch at the Lamana Gold Club.
The fun day requires a team of four players to enter the competition, with the winner eventually collecting the inaugural King of Hearts Lawn Bowls trophy.
Other events planned for the year include the PNGFM Charity Walk-A-Thon on Aug 18, an amazing race like the famous television series Survivor on Sept 18 and a walk along the Kokoda track.
