All White legend Rufer guest at NSL night

OCEANIA’S Player of the Century and former New Zealand All White Wynton Rufer will be the specialguest at the Telikom National Soccer League presentation and the fundraising dinner at Dynasty Resturant, Vision City, in Port Moresby on Friday.

Wynton, a retired New Zealand striker, spent most of his professional career in Germany with Werder Bremen, winning six titles. 

He also appeared for the All Whites in their first FIFA World Cup in 1982. 

He was named the Oceania footballer of the century by the Oceania Football Confederationahead of Frank Farina of Australia and Christian Karembeu of France and New Caledonia decent.

He has founded a football coaching school, WYNRS (Wynton Rufer Soccer School of Excellence), which produced football stars such as women’s international Annalie Longo.

Rufer’s memorable achievements are representing New Zealand in their first World Cup; scoring his first World Cup goal against China; being part of the most successful era in Werder’s history, winning the German Cup, Bundesliga championship  and the Euro Cup.

Rufer will be arriving in the country tomorrow afternoon at 13.45 pm from Brisbane.
