Alleged kidnapper on the run

POLICE are searching for a man with an injured right arm after he allegedly abducted a girl near Aihoma village in Mille Bay, police commander Supt Peter Barkie says.
“The suspect had his right arm slashed with a bush knife by the girl’s brother when escaping with his victim,” he said.
“The suspect had threatened the girl with a homemade gun and abducted her along the Alotau-East Cape road on Wednesday.”
Supt Barkie said the man had confronted the 16-year-old girl and her older sister in the village and threatened both with a homemade gun.
“He then abducted the girl and escaped. Other villagers attempted to confront the suspect but were worried that he would harm the girl. So they just watched.”
However, the girl’s brother armed with a bush knife began to follow them along a bush track.
They eventually rested under a tree and the brother snuck up and slashed the man’s right arm. Despite sustaining a serious wound, he grabbed the girl and ran along the track with the homemade gun still in his possession.
