A man who allegedly punched his wife resulting in her death appeared from custody at Bomana last Friday.
Moses Nianpo, 30, from Biwat village in Angoram district of East Sepik, is charged with the wilful murder of Magaret Esau.
The Waigani Committal Court heard that a police brief was not ready to be given to Nianpo.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar allowed one final adjournment of the matter.
He said the crime committed was a “serious homicide offence” and proper investigations needed to be done for the case to be finalised appropriately.
It is alleged that on April 8 at the Port Moresby General Hospital, Nianpo and his wife were visiting a relative when an argument broke out between them.
Nianpo allegedly punched his wife twice on the ribs. She collapsed and Nianpo rushed her to the emergency ward. But she passed away.
Nianpo is in custody at Bomana and will return to court on Aug 12.
