KWIKILA secondary school is one of the oldest educational institutions in Central province.

It has contributed immensely towards the education of past and present elites of Rigo district and the province.

The school’s infrastructure consisting of the teachers’ house, student dormitories and classrooms have been in existence since independence and have deteriorated to a state of disrepair and must be demolished and rebuilt.

On a recent visit, I noticed a few new buildings, including a classroom, dormitory and houses for teachers.

This is the initiative of the school board and its principal, Poni Kila, who is doing his best unlike his predecessors.

I commend him for a job well done but his initiative cannot be fully realised without proper funding from the government for the rebuilding and upgrading of the ailing infrastructures and facilities.

The school is currently overcrowded and needs to upgrade its facilities.

The staff and students have been subjected to these hardships and risks but persevere in their efforts to teach and receive education.

Therefore, I ask our local MP and the Central governor to provide adequate funds to improve facilities at the school.
