Allow businesses to resume operations

Letters

CORONAVIRUS is currently the most explosive and contagious virus that the entire world is struggling to contain.
Papua New Guinea is currently facing serious health issues as a result of this dreadful virus.
Medical doctors have confirmed many deaths recently, which is enough for the people to strictly observe and follow instructions to avoid contracting and spreading this virus.
National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning has issued various instructions on limiting the chances of spreading Covid-19.
During the pandemic, our health systems were tested, our economy is on life support, the Government is struggling to help the country stay afloat and we’re experiencing serious law and order issues.
It is sad that even people in the nation’s capital aren’t strictly adhering to health measures.
During the last couple of weeks, passengers inside PMVs and taxis were not wearing masks, observing social distancing and maintaining cleanliness.
Our arrogance and ignorance have devastating impacts on our society.
We should learn to live with the virus.
Given our challenges, the Government has to allow closed businesses to resume.
But that should be done under strict guidelines.
Our biggest concern is for businesses who had to lay off a good number of their employees.
We want the Government to relax the measures and allow some businesses such as gaming and liquor outlets to operation.
Please, listen to your people.
