Allow Hunters to come home, return

Letters

THE match between the SP PNG Hunters and Brisbane Tigers on Sunday was too rowdy.
We could not distinguish who the captain was and who the playmakers were.
Those players who stood in as captains for the Hunters, deserve to be congratulated by everyone in Papua New Guinea, especially Kevin Apo towards the dying minutes of the match.
At one stage, the Hunters had only nine players on the field as others were sent off.
Whatever the players were frustrated of, it had to be taken on somebody and the Tigers players copped the brunt of these frustrations.
Frustrations by our players were so bad that the match officials were lucky players such as Apo and others stood in to ease off situations and preventing the other players from getting themselves into trouble with Australian authorities.
Since being included in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup competition, this is the lowest our representative team has performed.
Although we respect the current coaching team, the continued presence of a local coach in the likes of Stanley Tepend with the team is very important for the good of our home-grown players.
I believe our players need to visit home and spend some time with their families on their breaks.
They should be allowed to refocus and return.
I believe with no doubt that our boys’ performance on Sunday will hit the headlines of Australian media for the wrong reasons.
This is a wake up call for international rugby league organisers in Papua New Guinea.
