Allow PMVs to use new routes

Letters

IT is a concern that police and Road Traffic Authority (RTA) officers are arresting PMV crews who are using unauthorised routes along the Poreporena Freeway and other roads not designated for PMVs, as per The National yesterday.
While we appreciate the enforcement, it is high time these two authorities sit together to forge a way forward.
The routes used should now be gazetted so they become serviceable for PMV operators and commuters.
Every time, we hear about issues with buses at 2-Mile, Badili and YWCA and Sabama with commuters losing their property to hooligans who rob them.
The authorities are hardly around policing these hotspots.
When will police and RTA consider this and start approving alternate routes that PMVs can use?
It only needs a concerted effort to make these routes work.
Heavy-handed tactics should stop.
